PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable light rays incident on a microlens to impinge efficiently on a photodetecting section aperture without irradiating the outside of the aperture by a method wherein a convex lens with a spherical surface or a nearly spherical surface is made to serve as the microlens. SOLUTION: A microlens 21 is provided over a photodetecting section aperture 18 and formed nearly like a rectangle in a plan view, and a convex lens with a spherical surface, or a nearly spherical surface is made to serve as the micro lens 21. Therefore, the height hV of a micro gap in a vertical direction is set larger than that hH of the micro lens 21 in a horizontal direction. A height differenceδh between the heights hV and hH is so set as to make the surface of the micro lens 21 spherical or nearly spherical. By this setup, light rays incident on the micro lens 21 are condensed in a region located at a nearly equal level independent of the lengthwise and widthwise direction of the micro lens 21. Therefore, a light-condensed region is set at a photodetecting surface, whereby all light rays incident on the micro lens 21 are made to impinge efficiently on a photodedetecting plane without irradiating the outside of the photodetecting section aperture 18.
