摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the coercive force, the saturating magnetization and the magnetic film thickness, which are suitable for the reproducing sensitivity of the recording magnetic field generated by a magnetic head and an MR head, by forming the magnetic recording medium with the magnetic layers, that are directly formed on a non-magnetic substrate or are formed through base layers, and non-magnetic substrates and specifying the relationship between the saturating magnetization of the magnetic layers and the film thickness. SOLUTION: A magnetic recording medium 1 consists of a substrate 2, non- magnetic plated layers 3, base layers 4, magnetic layers 5, protective films 6 and liquid or solid lubricant layers 7. The medium 1 simultaneously satisfies the conditions indicated below: 12[emu/cc.μm]<=Ms×tmag<=24[emu/cc.μm] 400[emu/cc]<=Ms<=600[emu/cc] 20[nm]<=tmag<=60[nm] where Ms stands for the saturating magnetization and tmag is the film thickness of the magnetic layers.
