The modular adaptor (3) for a motorcycle has the shape of an inverted U the upper part of which constitutes a base (10) for receiving a load (4). The vertical triangular side branches (11) of the adaptor have orifices (12) at their lower end enabling them to be engaged on the spindle (5) of an oscillating arm which overhangs either side the motorcycle frame. The base is supported on the rear (7) of the frame by a flexible connection (14). The base carries an overhanging plate (13) which is supported on cylinder blocks constituting the flexible connection to the frame.
