<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a path designation switch especially applicable to an ATM switch and system. SOLUTION: A switch is provided with a buffer circuit that is selectively connected to an input port and an output port and control circuits 39, 40, 41 that decide the selective connection between input an output ports. The control circuits 39, 40, 41 activate a message protocol having bit frames including data cells of a digital signal with a control bit, (i) obtain a path identifier denoting which output port or which of a plurality of output ports are used for a cell based on a control bit of each input cell, (ii) decide which queue is obtained from the selected output port, (iii) and conduct an optional flow control instruction that denotes congestion in a bit frame source.</p> |
