PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a transmitting subscriber to know whether the receiving subscriber has opened an electronic mail, by opening the mil at the reception side to produce a reply mail if a reply request field is included in a header part and updating the reply state column of a management table at the transmission side in response to the reply mail. SOLUTION: A mail management part 2 of a transmitter mail server 1 registers the transmission information on electronic mails including the reply state columns into a management table 2b for every transmitter subscriber. A field generation part 2a adds a reply request field to the header part of an electronic mail to be transmitted. When a receiver mail server opens the electronic mail, a header analysis part 4a analyzes the header part of the mail. Then a reply mail is automatically generated at a reply mail generation part 4b if a reply request field exists, and the replay mail is sent to the server 1. Thus, the server 1 updates the reply state column of transmission information on a table 2b in response to the reply mail. |
