PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a video telephone system in which a monitor image to be transmitted is not restricted to only either one of an image obtained at the time of calling and an image obtained before calling by transmitting an image from a transmitting means in a set operation mode at the time of receiving a call from an opposite telephone system in a monitor mode. SOLUTION: At the time of receiving incoming, a CPU 21 judges which mode is set up, a talk mode or a monitor mode. When the telephone system is set up to the monitor mode, the system transmits a required message and then receives a control signal from the opposite system. When both passwords coincide with each other, whether the system is set up to a 1st mode for transmitting an image photographed by a camera 12 simultaneously with its photographing or a 2nd mode for reading out an image from an image memory 28 and transmitting the read image. When the 1st mode is set up, an image for one frame photographed by the camera 12 is transmitted. When the 2nd mode is set up, an image for one frame is read out from the memory 28 and the read image is transmitted. |
