PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize an optical wavelength filter and switch the wavelength channel at high speed by providing a plurality of optical gate elements which are connected to an optical distributor element and control the passing and shielding of distributed optical signals individually. SOLUTION: An optical wavelength filter is provided with a star coupler 14 as an optical distributor element, fiber optical gate element 16 which control passing and shielding of optical signals individually, and a wavelength selecting reflection element 18 which selectively reflects optical signals having different wavelengths according to an optical gate element 16 where the optical signals pass through. The switching of the selection wavelength according to the optical gate element 16 can enhance the speed of switching the wavelength channel compared with a case of switching the selection wavelength by exciting a surface elastic wave. The connection via the optical distributor element 14, the wavelength selecting reflection element 18, and the optical gate element can increase the quenching ratio of the optical signals by the optical gate element 16 so as to reduce the cross talk. |
