The chassis (2) for a fork-lift truck has a self-supporting beam structure which is slender in the longitudinal direction. The chassis forms a caisson from the side of its front end part and supports a rotational axle (6) transverse to a longitudinal lifting arm from the side of its rear end. There are two vertical side plates (11,12), an upper plate (16) inclined to the horizontal and a lower horizontal plate. These plates form the caisson in the front end part of the chassis. In addition, there is a side driving cabin and an engine on the opposite side to the cabin. The longitudinal lifting arm is located in the completely lowered position between the engine casing and the cabin.
