PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a high quality color filter which can prevent occurrence of scumming and which is excellent in close adhesion to a substrate. SOLUTION: A method of manufacturing a color filter, comprises the steps of subjecting a photopolymerizing compound in which black coloring matter is dispersed, and which has been applied to a transparent substrate, to drying, exposure, development and curing so as to form a black matrix on the transparent substrate, then photopolymerizing compound dispersed therein with red, green or blue pigment and applied on the surface of the transparent substrate on which the black matrix is formed, to drying, exposure, development and curing, so as to form a red, green or blue picture element image, and optionally repeating the steps so as to successively form picture element images. In this method, only the black matrix image or the picture element image zone is heated or irradiated with ultraviolet radiation at least one of the steps of curing for forming the black matrix and the picture element image zone so as to selectively carry out the curing. |
