<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image compander in which a configuration for image compression is used also to expand the image. SOLUTION: When image data of a P frame are given to a frame buffer 10, difference data between the image data and image data decoded from an I frame in a reproduction buffer 80 are obtained by an adder/subtractor 20, the data are subject to orthogonal transformation and quantization by a DCT processing section 30 and a quantizer 40, the resulting data are subject to variable length coding by a VLC unit 50 and the result is outputted as an MPEG stream. Furthermore, the MPEG stream of the P frame given to the VLC unit 50 is subject to reverse variable length coding and quantized by an inverse quantizer 60, subject to inverse discrete cosine transformation in an IDCT processing section 70, the resulting data are added to image data of the I frame stored in the reproduction buffer 80 at the adder/subtractor 20 and the sum is outputted to a frame buffer 10.</p> |
