[Also in Division B5] A fibre cover 20 for a drum body 11 has a peripheral pinch portion 28, and a skirt 31, the cover being held to the drum chime by a locking band 21. In one configuration the cover is made from laminated circular discs of different diameters consisting of outer and inner discs 32, 33, having on one side kraft paper discs 42, laminated thereto, and filler discs 34, 35. The discs 33-35 are provided with adhesive on their lower sides and the discs 32-35 are aligned and secured together on a sub-assembly fixture 45 (Fig. 3, not shown), which is provided with removable disc guide blocks 50 (Fig, 4, not shown) and arcuate cut-outs 49 (Fig. 3, not shown) to assist in the assembling and removal of the discs. The flat cover disc sub-assembly 39 is then moulded by heat and pressure in a die (see Division B5) to the required shape. The filler disc 35 may be omitted, or more such discs inserted, but in all cases the filler discs terminate in the shoulder section 25. The inner surface 42 of the cover may be lined with a material such as polythene or aluminium foil. |
