The seat has the pivoting seat adjustment (15) movable relating to the pivot linkage (9), and with locking connection to a locking device (25). With the lock released, the pivot linkage (8, 9) can move freely forwards over an upper dead point, with the seat base and back fixed relative to each other. The position of the pivot adjustment and the frame positioning part (20) remain unchanged. If the seat is once more returned to its locked position, then the previous height adjustment position is found and maintained.
