Fourier filtering of measurement variable differences resulting from differences in said measurements is carried out in order to determine measurement variables using a specially included transfer function providing that the transfer function discontinuity points by appropriate shear selection do not coincide with elementary harmonic function frequency during harmonic analysis and that at least two evaluation cycles are carried out using various window functions to determine the measurement variable enabling the use of shears representing up to one third of the extension of the measurement variable which would otherwise lead to errors in determining said variable by Fourier filtering of measurement variable differences with shears representing up to one third of the extension of the measurement variable.
