The tube has an outer tube in which a guide bush is located at the end, an inner tube sliding in this which has an axial catch bar and a locking body which is held in movable fashion in a recess in the bush, mating with the catch bar in locking fashion through a recess in the outer tube. A clamp sliding in the longitudinal direction, guided on the bush, exerts a force at least from time to time on the locking body. The clamp designed as a connection slider has at least one slide-shaped guide running at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the tube and in which the locking body is held.
