The oven has a casing (17) having a wall (18) with an opening (3). A front frame (2) is provided surrounding the opening, and a slot (4) is formed between the wall and the front frame. A seal (5) is provided for the door of the oven, when closed, and is inserted in the slot with a gap (20) between the opposite ends (6,7) of the seal. A fastening device (8) is located in or behind the slot and engages the ends of the seal. Preferably, the gap in the seal is positioned near the bottom of the oven casing and the fastening device fits in a cavity in each end of the seal. and is retained by an adhesive.
