<p>An apparatus and method for handling and storing marine containers (12) transports containers (12) using a shuttle (88) that is movable sideways from an elevating overhead support frame (86) in an elevating transfer vehicle (80). The shuttle (88) can lift a container (12) from above and travel into a bay of a large storage rack (40). The shuttle (88) can move the containers (12) within the storage rack (40), or to a portal (60) where it can be temporarily stored or picked up immediately by a ground vehicle.</p> |
