The chair or other seating furniture, such as sofas and settees, has an inner carrier structure and an outer covering. The carrier structure is of foam boards (19,20) next to the side walls (17,18) of the outer cover (5), and bonded to the outer cover (5) at least in local zones. The spaces (21) between the foam boards (19,20) are at least partially filled with a filling material (22) of a number of filling particles (23), and pref. polystyrene balls, cork granules, or foam flocks. The cover (5) is a textile fabric, plastics, leather or combinations of materials.
