The invention concerns a device comprising means (4, 5) for detecting anomalies in the dynamic functioning of an engine (1) induced by misfiring and means for inhibiting (6, 102, 13) these detecting means sensitive to forces external to the engine capable of misleading the detecting means (4, 5). The inhibiting means (6, 102, 13) comprise a sensor (13) sensitive to the average rotating speed of the wheels (71, 72) of an axle of said vehicle for forming a signal representing the vehicle speed, said signal supplying the display of said speed in said vehicle passenger space and means for processing (6) said signal to detect the possible presence of said forces external to the engine likely to mislead the means for detecting misfiring, and subsequently control said inhibiting means (4, 5).
