The invention concerns an adaptable, retractable, removable side headrest, consisting in a device for equipping an armchair or an ordinary seat with a side headrest. The device comprises a seat cover (9, dotted lines) adapted to the armchair top, two side armrests, consisting of a fixed part inside the cover (1 and 2) and serving as support, and a movable part (5 and 6) covered with foam and fabric serving as side headrest. These two side armrest parts are linked by standard or serrated articulation (3 and 4) capable of being moved inwards, upwards or downwards for easier storage. The rigidity of the side headrests relative to the armchair is provided by adjustable seat belts integrated in the cover, one at the rear (8) and the other at the front (7). A variant of the device consists in replacing one adjusting support belt (7 or 8) or both (7 and 8) by adjusting rigid rods. The headrest can be used for seats in aeroplanes, trains, ferry-boats and cars.
