<p>An optical parametric oscillator (10) wherein the crystal (30) is housed in a sleeve arrangement (31) and is mechanically rotatable, the sleeve arrangement (31) comprising a plurality of sleeve components (31A, 31B, etc.), each made of light-weight thermally conducting material, the components (31A, 31B etc.), being resiliently biased into thermal contact with the crystal (30) and having sliding interfaces whereby the sleeve arrangement (31) is capable of expansion and contraction to allow for expansion and contraction of the crystal (30) and the crystal (30) is maintained at a substantially uniform temperature. The temperature of the crystal is measured by a single point measurement sensor (55) and an electronic controller (50) operates according to a pre-determined algorithm to rotate the crystal (30) to achieve an angle of pump beam incidence for any particular value of measured crystal temperature to achieve a desired oscillator output wavelength.</p> |
