The meter data reading and processing method uses a data line for supplying the measured data values to a central reading device (13) at which time correlated data measurements for different flow mediums and/or energy types are read at defined time intervals. Each meter (1,2,3,4; 5,6,7,8; 9,10) is coupled to the central reading device via a 2-wire bus line (12), with specific processing of the measured data values from each meter before comparison with reference data.
