A saturable fluid amplifier comprises a first proportional amplifier 36 fed at 40 with the pressure signal to be amplified and at 42 with a fixed bias pressure, and a second proportional amplifier 48 fed at 54 with the output from leg 44 and at 52 with a second fixed bias pressure, the arrangement being such that the pressure at control orifice 54 varies inversely with the signal pressure at orifice 40, but should the signal pressure continue to rise beyond the point where the pressure at orifice 54 is zero the pressure differential at outputs 56, 58 remains constant. The Specification discusses in detail why prior art non-saturable amplifiers produce negative gain on overload. As shown a common pressure source 68 is connected directly to power jets 38, 50, and via fluid resistors 70, 72 to bias control orifices 42, 52, but according to a modification Fig. 6 (not shown) each is fed from a separate pressure source.</p> |
