Information cells, which are allocated to virtual links with different priorities, are jointly transferred via at least one transmission line (L1, L2) of an ATM system. During transmission via a respective transmission line, said information cells pass through a fubber memory (PS) which is individually allocated thereto. When information cells belonging to a relatively high-priority virtual link arrive in the respective transmission line (L1) of recently stored information cells of a selected lower priority virtual link, one or several oof said informaiton cells are rejected in a buffer memory (PS) with a given occupancy level, depending upon the number of information cells stored for this virtual low-priority link. |
