[Also in Division B8] A tubular carton, which is formed from a cardboard blank coated on at least the interior surface of end flaps 8, 9 with a heat-sealable vinyl composition, is lined by placing the erected blank 1 into a former 15, and deep-drawing a hot air- or radiation-heated plastic wafer 10 placed over the open end of the blank, utilizing either a plunger 21 or a vacuum source connected to passages 18 in the former base. Alternatively or additionally, compressed air may be supplied through passages (not shown) in the plunger 21 to aid or effect deep-drawing of the wafer. The deep-drawn lining formed adheres to the coating on the end flaps. The coating may extend over the whole of the inner surface of the blank. |
