The arrangement consists of a parallel guide (P) and a cage (3,3') for guiding and applying the chain. The guide arrangement has a first lug with pivot bore and a second lug with a pivot bore and a guide bore on which the cage is mounted. The vertical tube (1) of the bicycle frame makes an angle (alpha,alpha') with the horizontal tube (16). Alpha has a range of 66 to 69 degrees and alpha' of 63 to 60 degrees. The cage (3) is positioned at an angle to compensate for the angle of the cage to the pulling direction of the chain.
