Apparatus for testing an injector nozzle comprising a pump and nozzle holder unit (10), a collecting chamber communicating with an outlet port (32) for collecting fluid delivered by the nozzle, a first fluid line (34) extending between the outlet port (32) and a valve (12) and a second fluid line (36) extending between the metering device (14) and the valve (12). The supply of fluid to the first and second fluid lines (34, 36) from the collecting chamber displaces fluid to the metering device (14), which provides an indication of the quantity of fluid delivered by the nozzle. Temperature-controlled fresh fluid is supplied periodically from a low pressure fluid source (21) either by a first supply means (52, 60) to the first supply line (34) in order to flush fluid through the first supply line (34) and the collecting chamber or by a second supply means (52, 44) to the metering device (14) in order to flush the metering device (14) and the second fluid line (36). Fresh fluid can be also supplied from the low pressure fluid source (21) to the pump and nozzle holder unit (10) through a third supply means (48, 11, 26) and to the metering device (14) through a fourth supply means (52, 50) to control the temperature of the pump and nozzle holder unit (10) and the metering device (14).
