The pressure regulating valve has a valve body (4) coupled to a pressure medium line, with an opening and a pressure connection for venting and pressurising the latter respectively. The cylinder space of the valve body contains a regulating piston (7) provided with a peripheral sealing ring (17), acted on by opposing springs (3,9) and the pressure in the pressure medium line. The spring force of one of the springs is determined by a required pressure source.
