The invention relates to a method and a device for testing a component made form brittle metal, wherein said component is subjected to a purely mechanical load. Said mechanical load comprises, at least partially, a thermal load which occurs while the component is in operation. Testing can be carried out very quickly since heating of the component is no longer necessary in order to carry out the inventive method.
