The invention describes a new use for dicarboxylic acids, dicarboxylic acid metabolites, and their derivatives as animal feed ingredients. Among the nat ure of dicarboxylic acids, those having 6, 8, or 10 carbon atoms are preferred and still more preferred is the adipic acid.
