The regulation method has the clutch inserted in a control circuit supplied with a required value and a regulation value, with a decision function (S1) verifying provision of a gear changing command and a second decision function (S3) verifying the start criteria for an increase in the clutch slip, for initiating a slip increase function (S4). A further decision function (S27) verifies the start criteria for a reduction in the clutch slip, for initiating a slip reduction function (S28) before returning to the main programme.
