1,164,301. Feeding measured doses to injection moulding machines. TAPSER S.L. 12 Sept., 1966 [13 Sept., 1965], No. 40594/66. Heading B5A. In a method of forming a neck portion 23 on to a preformed body 20, material to be moulded is fed under gravity to an injection chamber 16 in the form of tablets 12 in a magazine 11, one tablet being fed at each injection stroke, each tablet being of a predetermined requisite weight. The tablets are fed downwardly, the lowermost tablet being removed by a window 14 in a slide 13 connected to an hydraulic plunger 2 with a ram 3 thereon. Injection takes place when a headstock 9 engages a stationary mould 22, the headstock being heated, and a core 19 supporting the body 20 being reciprocated by a lever system 21. The tablets comprise thermoplastic material, and the moulded product may be removed on the core or unscrewed from the mould if the workpiece is threaded.
|
