PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain in an industrially advantageous way, the subject compound useful as a raw material for synthesizing medicines, agrochemicals or their intermediates by treating a,α-β-(n-butoxycarbonyl)-diaminopropionic acid with specific microbial cells and/or a product therefrom without changing its steric configuration. SOLUTION: This optically activeα-(n-butoxycarbonyl)-diaminopropionic acid of formula II is obtained by treatingα,β-di-(n-butoxycarbonyl)- diaminopropionic acid of formula I with a strain of microorganisms that selectively deprotect only itsβ-site, e.g. Brevibacterium linens IFO012142 or Pseudomonas sp. MC13361 (FERM P-15968) and/or a product therefrom. |
