PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a high-quality cyclic alcohol (specifically cyclohexanol) at industrially sufficiently high cost. SOLUTION: This method for producing a cyclic alcohol comprises reacting a cyclic olefin with water by a continuous system in the presence of a solid acid catalyst and an organic additive, subjecting the reaction solution to oil- water separation and recovering the cyclic alcohol from an oil phase containing the organic additive and the produced cyclic alcohol. In this case, the organic additive has a boiling point higher than that of the cyclic alcohol and (1) the above oil phase is fed to a first distillation tower and the cyclic alcohol and the organic additive are pulled out from the tower bottom and unreacted cyclic olefin is distilled from the tower top, (2) the tower bottom liquid of the first distillation tower is fed to a second distillation tower and on one hand, at least a part of the tower top liquid is circulated to a hydration reactor and (3) the cyclic alcohol is distilled from the tower top of the second distillation tower and on one hand, the organic additive is recovered from the tower bottom and circulated to the hydration reactor. |
