PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a perfume quality-improving agent capable of imparting or reinforcing a perfume having excellent freshness and excellent floral smell, when added to a cosmetic perfume composition, and also capable of emphasizing a top note and imparting a perfume having excellent freshness and excellent fruit smell, when added to a food perfume composition by using a specific compound. SOLUTION: This perfume quality-improving agent comprises 2R,-4S-trans-(+)- carveol of the formula. The compound of the formula is preferably obtained by a chemical synthesis method e.g. from advantageous points that the compound of the formula can be obtained in a high purity and in a large amount. Floral, fruity and citrus perfume compositions are preferable among cosmetic perfume compositions containing the compound of the formula, and citrus, tropical fruity, and floral perfume compositions are also preferable among food perfume compositions, because the above-described effects are remarkably expressed. The compound of the formula is preferably added in an amount of 0.001-5% based on the perfume composition. |
