The shield (4) covers a ventilator formed by opening a panel in the greenhouse, and can be mounted along edges of the panel and of the opening covered by it. Folding material (6) is used for the shield, which contains one or more stiffening members (11). The member is of U-section, and extends close to a shield hinge-point. The latter is formed by joining the folds in the shield locally together. A strip can be secured to the shield immediately adjacent to the join (26) between the folds. The join can be formed by local fusing, gluing or stitching of the folds, by clamping the folds between the shield and part of the building, or by means of a bolt and nut. A clamping block can be used, and the shield can be folded in a zigzag pattern.
