A keypad membrane 1600 for a device such as a radiotelephone comprises a substantially planar resilient non conductive body 1602 including respective resiliently deformable contact areas 1606 and a membrane conductor 1608 disposed on a surface of the resilient body so as to cover the contact areas 1606, the membrane conductor 1608 being connected to ground to provide a conductor that acts as an RF shield in the contact areas.
