A binding for securing a boot (12) by its toe portion to a ski, particularly to a jumping ski (13), said binding thus enabling the bearing of a sole (14) of the boot (12) directly against a top surface (15) of the ski (13) and said binding being adapted in a forced situation to release the boot (12) automatically as a force applied to the boot exceeds a predetermined value. On top of a binding bracket member (6) fastened to the ski (13) forward of an attachment point of the boot (12) is fitted a latch element (4) secured to the bracket member (6) from a fastening point (10) spaced from the boot, said latch element having its end (16) closer to the boot attachment point adapted to extend beyond the bracket member (6) onto an extension of the sole (14) of the boot (12). Further provided is a locking member (1) for locking the bracket member (6) and the latch element (4) relative to each other between said latch element fastening point (10) and the end of the bracket member (6) closer to the boot (12) for concentrating a force applied towards the top surface (15) of the ski (13) on the extension of the sole (14) of the boot (12) through the action of the latch element (4). |
