摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically conduct low cost and safe welding without needing any groove welding by computing a weld line position from a cross sectional shape of a material to be welded and independently controlling butting height positions of two materials to be welded based on a height information before butting. SOLUTION: Bar stocks 1a, 1b are butted at a butting face 2. The bar stocks 1a, 1b are welded by irradiating with a laser beam 4 from a laser beam welding torch 3. The laser beam torch 3, which is arranged to a welding copying mechanism 6 integrated together with a weld line position detector 5, by a copying controller 8 to follow to a weld line position output computed by a signal processor 7 processing an output of the weld position detector 5, is automatically moved on a weld line position in each direction of a weld line direction X, a copying direction Y and a height direction, welding is conducted. By this method, the weld line position is precisely detected without needing any groove welding.</p>
