PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently remove and purify a harmful matter and combustible gas within a wide temp. range by allowing waste gas containing an org. chlorine compd., the combustible gas and nitrogen oxide to contact with a catalyst containing an oxide of at least Ti, V and B. SOLUTION: In a preparation of the catalyst, a distilled water is added to a prescribed amount of titanium oxide, ammonium metavanadate and boric acid and the mixture is kneaded sufficiently, and after drying the obtained pasty mixture, the mixture is burned and subjected to reaction. The catalyst may be prepared by adding the boric acid and kneading and burning by the similar method after preparing a burned article of the titanium oxide and the ammonium metavanadate by a similar method. The nitrogen oxide, the org. chlorine compd. such as polychlorodibenzo dioxin, polychloro dibenzofuran and chlorobenzene and the combustible gas such as hydrocarbon and carbon monoxide incorporated in the waste gas from an incinerator, etc., are removed and purified efficiently by using this catalyst. |
