<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for reclaiming waste polystyrene foam to give reclaimed polystyrene in high efficiency, high recovery and excellent safety. SOLUTION: This process comprises the 1st step to crush polystyrene foam H with a crusher 1, the 2nd step to spray an aromatic organic solvent with a solvent-spraying apparatus 4 against the crushed polystyrene foam stored in a dissolution chamber 2 to dissolve the polystyrene foam H in liquid state and pass the dissolved polystyrene solution through the dissolution chamber 2 while leaving insoluble materials in the chamber to separate and recover the polystyrene, the 3rd step to heat the dissolved polystyrene solution at a low temperature with a low-temperature heating apparatus 5, release the heated solution into a vacuum tank 6 to separate the solvent in gaseous state, hold the polystyrene in the vacuum tank 6, cool the solvent vapor sucked from the vacuum tank 6 and recover the solvent liquid in a solvent tank 3 and the 4th (final) step to take out the recovered polystyrene from the vacuum tank 6.</p> |
