PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce impact applied to occupants at the time of secondary collision when a vehicle has a head collision. SOLUTION: This device is so constituted that a steering column 21 rotatably supporting a main shaft 11 capable of being integrally rotated with a steering wheel 14, is connected with a car body (column support 31) so as to be supported at an oblique angle as specified. In this case, the steering column 21 is so constituted that it can be connected with the car body so as to be supported by two places A and B parted as specified, the steering column 21 is connected so as to be supported tiltably in the longitudinal direction at the connecting support point A, the steering column 21 is also connected so as to be supported releasably afterward at the connecting support part B, and a pressing and moving means (rod 51) is provided, which presses and moves the steering column 21 and the main shaft 11 in response to the deformation of the car body (front panel 32) at the time of primary collision, releases connecting support at the connecting support part B so as to eliminate it, and concurrently, raises the column and shaft so as to allow them to be tilted. |
