PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a horizontal washing filter which has the least possible min. resistance to flow and has no tendency to clogging even under disavantageous conditions by disposing a pump in a filter chamber where loose materials pumped up to its apex on the outside of the lower region of this filter chamber. SOLUTION: The pump 10 has an upright pipe 11 as a means 1 for emitting a large amt. of the loose materials 8 from a hopper 9. When compressed air is supplied via a compressed air pipe 14 to a bottom lifter 12, the lifter ascends to above the upright pipe 11 and the large amt. of the loose materials flowing to the hopper 9 are injected into the washing chamber 15 at the apex of the filter chamber 2, by which tacky adhesive impurities are removed therefrom. The washing water contg. the impurities is released via a washing water outlet 17 to the discharge flow of half the filter chamber 2. The water requiring washing and pouring operation is connected from a raw water chamber 3 via a washing water inlet pipe 15 to the hopper 9 and flows into the chamber 18.
