PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the discharge and charge capacity and discharge and charge properties by atomized pyrolysis of a solution of a compound containing metallic elements constituting spinel type lithium-manganese compound oxide in water or an alcohol and annealing the resultant compound oxide. SOLUTION: An aqueous or alcoholic solution of a compound containing metallic elements constituting a spinel type lithium-manganese compound oxide selected from at least one kind selected from lithium nitrate, lithium acetate and lithium formate and at lease one kind selected from manganese nitrate, manganese acetate and manganese formate is subjected to atomized pyrolysis at 500-900 deg.C to give a compound oxide. This compound oxide is annealed at 600-850 deg.C to allow the particle sizes to grow to 1-5μm, thereby preparing a spinel type lithium-manganese compound oxide of the formula: Li(Mn2-x Lix )O4 (0<x<0.02) with a specific surface area of 2-10m<3> /g. |
