PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a swelling improver and a slimming agent capable of manifesting excellent suppressing actions on spontaneous swelling and excellent slimming actions and further effects thereof for external use for skin even by an oral route by including anα-glucosylated hesperidine as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: This swelling improver comprises (A) anα-glucosylated hesperidine represented by the formula (one or more of R<1> to R<6> are each a monosaccharide or an oligosaccharide residue and the others are H) as an active ingredient. The agent is formulated into a skin preparation for external use, e.g. an ointment, a milky lotion or a toilet lotion or further an oral administration form such as a tablet, a granule or a processed food, e.g. a biscuit, a cake or bread and administered in a daily dose of preferably 0.01-10g expressed in terms of the amount of the ingredient A for an adult in the case of oral administration.
