By dividing a cylinder via two diametral planes which intercept at the axis, we achieve four circular-sector base prisms. By rotating these diametral planes with respect to the axis of the cylinder, at different speeds, we cause the surface area of the section of the prisms to change, passing, for example, from angles of 20 to angles of 160 degrees. By synchronizing this operation twice per revolution, each prism increases and decreases twice in volume. We match the prisms to the strokes of a connecting rod/crank engine. At each revolution of the axis, four strokes are produced in each volume, four explosions per revolution, each explosion aiding the compression and exhaust of the contiguous volumes and intake in the opposite volume. We obtain an engine which is equivalent to four cylinders with an inlet hose, an exhaust hose and an ignition system for the four cylinders. <IMAGE>
