Each unit of the inverted-V version of the information store, forming part of the system for transferring information between a vehicle and apparatus adjacent its track described in parent Specification, is modified to prevent its tube shaped member 35 being shifted from its one stable position to the other due to sudden acceleration or shock movement of the vehicle. The downwardly directed arms 32, 33 of the V which terminate in pockets 5, 6 for the tubeshaped member 35 are curved in elevation to assist transfer of the tube by the magnetic writing means and the apex of the V is formed with a circular profile 36 to provide a ridge 37 which returns the tube when bounced out of pocket 5 back to the same pocket. The pockets 5, 6 may be joined by a small conduit 43 and each provided with a small amount of liquid to damp movement of the tube. The ridge 34 between the pockets may be provided with a non-magnetic, heavy cylinder 44 of e.g. brass which runs in guides 46 formed in the sides of the unit and extending towards the apex of the V. This cylinder moves during shock movement of the vehicle to block the passage for the tube 35 between the two pockets. |
