The present invention relates to a method for transmitting data during pulse intervals of a speed signal, whereby the maximum number of transmittable data is determined on the basis of both the period of time required for transmitting an information unit and a period of time corresponding to the duration of the pulse interval. The maximum number of data which can be transmitted in a pulse interval is adjusted by setting as time, corresponding to the duration of the pulse interval, a value obtained from recently measured pulse intervals, taking into consideration a maximum wheel-acceleration value. The invention also relates to a circuit for carrying out said method.
