Controlling remotely operable machines and apparatus

The method involves a remotely operable device reacting to a telephone call, by checking the pass word, and decoding the MFV tones. This process is followed by processing in a logic gate network. The processed data are fed to a universal remote control by electronic switches parallel to the keys of the remote control. The remote control transmits control commands to the apparatus. In addition to the control, the programming can also be carried out over the telephone. There are various switching lay-outs for conversion of MTV tones into remote control signals, loudness control, code checks, and remote control energising.
