The spark erosion machine for production of small holes in a workpiece (2) includes a working electrode (1), an electrode holder (3), and an electrode guide unit (8). The machine further includes a middle or intermediate electrode guide system (27) which holds the electrode between the electrode holder (3) and the guide unit (8). During the spark erosion process the electrode holder (3), the guide system (27) and the unit (8) move together as a single, integral element.
