Yarn and fleece manufactured from stretched plastic filaments, stretching process and process equipment

Equipment for manufacturing stretched plastic filaments (2, 3) comprises a spinning machine(1), a take-off unit (10) with a pneumatic system for applying a pulling force to the filaments and a heater (5) between the spinner and take-off unit through which a heating fluid flows in the opposite direction to the filaments. Also claimed is a filament manufacturing process in which melt spun filaments (2) weighing >= 1 dTex are cooled to their solidification temperature after leaving the spinning machine (1) and stretched by the pneumatic take-off device. Additional stretching is effected by passing cooled filaments through the heater (5) and reheating above their solidification temperature with hot gaseous fluid flowing against the filament movement. Fleece and yarn manufactured with filaments produced by the process and equipment are claimed and have filaments with a tensile strength of 32 cN/Tex and an extension of /}60%.
